NEW INCORPORATION

We are pleased to announce a new member to the team: Mercedes Alonso has joined us June 1st as our new Business Development Director.
Mercedes main task is to find new clients and to represent us the best possible way. Mercedes has lived many years in the UK, but she is Spanish and know very well all the Iberian Peninsula, our destinations and our company.

NEW CITITRAVEL BABY

2018 is another baby boom year in Cititravel – baby number 3 has just been born this year!

Ana Charters had a beautiful baby boy on June 11^th – both are very well.

She will be on maternity leave until after the summer, taking care of her baby son and 2 small girls – becoming a large family.

INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP

This summer we have welcomed Brian Nelsen from The Lenoir Rhyne University in NC for a summer internship.

He is learning Spanish, our account department English, and he is already a keen soccer fan for Spain !!

CERVEZA VICTORIA’s LOCAL BREWERY

Cervezas Victoria, Malaga’s emblematic beer brand, has recently opened their news facilities. The glass-fronted building, dominated by the sign ‘Victoria. Málaga 1928’, is situated on Malaga’s surroundings, between Malaga city and the airport. The visit lasts around 1h and it also includes a beer tasting.

NEW HOTEL

Stylish “off-the-beaten-track” hotel, under new management, this fabulous 5* boutique property, looks out over a Severiano Ballesteros designed golf course, with the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

Many of the major sights of Lisbon can be enjoyed from the river and a sunset cruise with a glass of bubbly is a wonderful way to start any evening event.

MULTI PURPOSE VENUE

If you saw the Eurovision Song Contest last month, you will have seen the fantastic arena, which provided the backdrop for the event. This is Portugal’s largest indoor arena with seating for 12,500+ spectators, which also boasts 12 meeting rooms and a further multi-purpose space of 2,200m2.

On a smaller scale, we now have another multi-purpose facility, located right in the heart of the city, with many hotels within easy walking distance. The beautifully restored building offers various reception rooms and spaces, ideal for smaller meetings and F&B, with huge, modern spaces at the back, with capacity for 1,400+ delegates plus room for substantial staging.

The venue is an ideal fit for a wide range of events from meetings and gala dinners, to exhibitions and product launches.

NORTH OF SPAIN

Bilbao has recently been awarded with the annual prize by the non-profitable organization “The Academy of Urbanism” as the best city in Europe for 2018, which recognizes its good urban practices. The Biscayan capital competed with Vienna (Austria) and Ljublana (Slovenia). The major of Bilbao, Juan María Aburto, has expressed his “pride”, in collecting this award and stated that the capital of Biscay “is still developing” , with new projects already underway such as the TAV, Zorrotzaurre, as a space of opportunity, the Ría as a backbone and a Bilbao based on firm value, that is forged as a university, museum and business city.
The Academy of Urbanism was evaluating Bilbao during the month of September 2017, taking great interest in matters such as infrastructures, urban services, political map, local culture, quality of life and well-being, sustainability, the environment , connectivity or commercial success and its viability.
After making the same evaluation to the other two selected cities, Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Vienna (Austria), the jury considered that Bilbao was worthy of being considered the Best European City 2018.

MAIN STREET NEW PROPERTY

Considered as one of the trendiest 4 stars Hotels of the City, this hotel re-opens its doors with a total of 94 bedrooms divided into different categories. On its top floors, it boasts a wonderful 360º terrace, which thanks to its location, it offers the best views over the Gran Via and the roof tops of the city. The building was constructed by the well-known architects Julio Martinez and Jose Salaberry, who began the project back in 1915 and was expected to be open in 1918, but has been nowadays… 100 years later…

VALENCIA

PALAU ALAMEDA RE-OPENED ITS DOORS

Last Friday May, 18th Palau Alameda re-opened its doors; the space that once hosted Valencia public swimming pools and Alameda Palace, in Arquitecte Mora Street, close to the Turia Gardens in Valencia. The new venue is composed by 3 different spaces: a restaurant with terrace and a bar (ÂTIC RESTO & ÂTIC BAR ), a function hall (ALAMEDA LA SALA) suitable for several kind of events (such as parties, corporate events, presentations, concerts or dinner-shows), and a ‘hub’ or disco (AZZA) to enjoy an after work or dance music during week-end.

THE NEW GASPAR

The new GASPAR, recently inaugurated, is a stylish restaurant with a nice atmosphere, where guests can have the experience of tasting excellent gastronomy, the best cocktails and enjoy good music. Location: Gran Via Marqués del Turia 36-38, Valencia.

GASTRO TRINQUET PELAYO

It is considered as the “Cathedral” of pilota, a traditional handball sport played in the Valencian Community. The general rules, involves two teams, from two up to five players each. In this game, spectators are often seated or standing very close to the game court, which means that they become part of it. Located in the heart of Valencia, it is one of the most famous “trinquet courts” and an emblematic place, with 150 years of history, where the finals of important competitions are usually held. Location: Calle Pelayo, 6 – city center.

CANARY ISLANDS

BARCELÓ GROUP, TO OPEN A NEW RESORT IN TENERIFE ISLAND

The Barceló Group is opening Royal Hideaway Corales Resort, a new five star establishment in Costa Adeje, on the south end of Tenerife. The resort is divided into an adults-only hotel and a family-friendly hotel, for all guests.

It features more than 10,000sqm of spacious gardens, several heated salt-water swimming pools, a varied culinary offer, a complete activities/entertainment programme and a spa.
